# Greeting Card Illustrations

Handmade greeting cards feel personal; a generated illustration can be the starting point. Here is my process with [Raphael AI](https://raphael.app).

## Know the format
|
|
Folded A6 cards are portrait. Ask for "portrait composition, subject in the centre, soft border".
|
|
|
|
## Occasion vocabulary
|
|
- birthday: "confetti, balloons, cheerful watercolour"
|
|
- sympathy: "quiet lilies, soft grey-blue, lots of space"
|
|
- new home: "small cottage with a lit window, cosy"
|
|
|
|
## Leave writing space
|
|
"Plain area at the bottom" lets you add a short message by hand or in type.
|
|
|
|
## Print well
|
|
Use matte card stock for watercolour styles and check colours on a test print; screens are brighter than paper.
|
|
|
|
## Make it yours
|
|
Add a handwritten note. The image sets the mood; your words make the card.
